A: If you have a new message you will hear a stutter dial-tone (several quick beeps before the dial tone) when you lift your receiver. Additionally if your phone supports a voicemail indicator light, it will be lit when you have new messages.

Q: What Voice Mail greetings can I customize?

A: You can record a custom greeting for All Calls, Unanswered Calls and Busy Calls.

Q: How long of a Voice Mail message can my callers leave?

A: Each message can be up to 180 seconds (3 minutes) in length.

A: You need to login to Voice Mail, record a greeting and select a PIN.

Q: I entered my PIN incorrectly three times and now I’m locked out of my Voice Mail, how do I get it restored?

A: If you do not have PIN Skip enabled you must call customer support at 611 to have your PIN reset. Subscribers with PIN Skip can use that feature to login to Voice Mail from home, without needing a PIN, by dialing their home number from home. Once logged in to Voice Mail, the menu option for PIN Reset is 4-3-1 from the Voice Mail main menu.

Q: How do I use PIN Skip?

A: Digital Phone allows you the option to access your Voice Mail without using your PIN. This option (PIN Skip) is automatically enabled when accessing your Voice Mail system from home. If you would like to disable PIN Skip simply access the Voice Mail system and dial 4-3-2-2. Should you like to re-enable PIN Skip you can also dial 4-3-2-2; the system will always tell you the status of PIN Skip and you can decide when to enable or disable this feature.

Q: If I use PIN Skip, will my Voice Mail still be secure?

A: With PIN Skip, you will no longer need to enter your voicemail PIN when you retrieve your Voice Mail from your home phone. While this is a great time saving feature, PIN Skip significantly decreases the privacy protection and security of your Voice Mail. For added protection, you can enable your PIN from the main Voice Mail menu.

Q: What should I select as my Voice Mail PIN?

A: Any 4 numeric digits; (#) and (*) are not allowed.

Q: How long are my Voice Mail messages kept before being deleted?

A: Messages are not automatically purged, they can be saved indefinitely.

Q: How many Voice Mail messages can I have?

A: Your Voice Mail box is limited to about 40 minutes of messages, but there is no limit to the number of messages.

Q: How do I know when I'm close to a full Voice Mail box?

A: When the mailbox reaches 90% capacity, the following message will play during Voice Mail retrieval: "I see that you are approaching your voice message count limit. Please erase any voice messages you no longer need."

Q: What will happen when my Voice Mail box is full?

A: Callers will be notified if the mailbox is full and not accepting new messages.

Q: Can callers mark Voice Mail messages they leave as urgent?

A: Yes.

Q: How can I listen to my Voice Mail messages?

A: There are currently three ways to listen to your messages: While at home - Pickup your home line and call your home phone number. While away from home - Call your home phone number from another phone (must not be answered by someone at home). Anywhere - Call the Voice Mail remote access number.

Q: Can I listen to my Voice Mail messages via the web?

A: Not at this time, however this functionality is planned for the future.

Q: I have Caller ID blocking and Anonymous Caller Reject (ACR), how do I retrieve my Voice Mail messages?

A: Caller ID blocking prevents your number from being available when you place calls. Anonymous call reject will block any incoming calls that are preventing the caller's number from being available. When both of these options are enabled on your line, dialing your home telephone number from your home line will result in the call being blocked, and therefore you will not be able to use this method to listen to messages. Instead you will need to dial the Voice Mail remote access number (it can be programmed as one of your speed dial numbers).

Q: If I get my Voice Mail greeting, can I interrupt it and login to listen to my messages?

A: Yes, you can press the * key to "barge-in" on the greeting and login to Voice Mail.
