Because Road Runner is a high performance Internet service, your computer must meet certain minimum requirements before we can install Road Runner. (updated 09/05)
The recommended PC configuration:
- Windows 2000/ME/XP/Vista
- Pentium-class 450 MHz (800 MHz or greater recommended)
- 128 MB of RAM (256 MB recommended)
- 300MB free hard drive space available (500MB recommended)
- Ethernet card with RJ45 connector, or Open slot and free compatible IRQ, or Open USB port*
- Internet Explorer 6.x
- CD-ROM drive required, sound card and speakers recommended, SVGA or XGA graphics card recommended
The recommended Macintosh configuration:
- OS X 10.2 and above
- PowerPC Processor (G3 recommended)
- 32 MB physical RAM with Virtual Memory set to at least 40 MB (64 MB recommended)
- 300 MB free hard drive space available (500MB recommended)
- Ethernet card with RJ45 connector, Open slot, or USB Port (Best Effort)*
- Internet Explorer 5.x, Safari 1.x
- CD-ROM drive required, sound card and speakers recommended, 16-bit color required - 32-bit recommended.
*Notes:
- Ethernet Cards will be provided only if required upon installation (PCs only). For laptops and Macs, they may be ordered for an additional fee.
- Road Runner will support Firefox 1.0.2 on a best effort basis, but cannot guarantee optimal performance.
- Road Runner will provide support for earlier releases of Windows (98) and Macintosh (10.0, 10.1) on a best effort basis only, and cannot guarantee optimal performance.
- Road Runner supports processors with speeds below 450MHz on a best effort basis, but cannot guarantee optimal performance.
- The Ethernet card must be installed and available for Road Runner use. Road Runner is intended for stand-alone computers; for information on local networking capability, contact your local cable provider.
- Please note that your computer system, as well as certain broadband services, may require resources beyond Road Runner's minimum standards.
